Shedding can be a problem any time of the year, but gets significantly worse during the warmer months. As the temperatures rise, so does the fur flying and reducing the amount of fur that your dog sheds can be a difficult task. Some dogs shed continuously throughout the warmer months. Here are some quick tips for helping to reduce the amount of flying fur:1. Daily brushing can greatly reduce of loose fur around your house. There are several styles of brushes to choose from that are ideal for removing loose hair. A shedding blade, such as the Dog Adjustable Size Shedding Blade, is ideal for removing loose fur from the surface of your dog’s coat. Another great brush for removing loose fur from your dog’s undercoat is the Ultimate Slicker Wire Pet Brush. 2. After brushing your dog’s coat, give your dog a bath with a shampoo formulated for shed control. The Morning DEW Pet Shed & Dander Shampoo works great for reducing the amount of fur your dog sheds. This shampoo may be used on either puppies or dogs. 3. Once you are finished bathing your dog, use a blow dryer and brush your dog’s coat dry. This finishing step also helps to remove additional loose fur from your dog’s coat. 4. Another tip for reducing the amount of shedding is to keep your dog in an air-conditioned home in the summer and indoors during the winter. For some dogs and owners with AC, this can be very helpful, but for some dogs, it may not help at all. It depends on how much your dog is exposed to the climate change. Typically, dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors are more prone to shed their fur. 5. Lastly, if all else fails, a lint roller is ideal for removing dog hair from any surface, including you!
