Stop Animal Cruelty - Spread Love- CLICK HERE!

All the news about Michael Vick these days brings new awareness to a problem that doesn't seem to go away - Animal Cruelty.

It breaks my heart when I hear about pet dogs, pet rabbits or pet cats being mutiliated by thier owners, neighbors or passer-byers.

How could you hurt a being that gives you devoted love all the time? I did a quick search on Google News this morning and pages and pages of news on animal cruelty came up - here are a few headlines:

Queens man charged with beating neighbor's dog
Hemet Man Accused Of Intentionally Running Over Dog
Teen Gets Jail for Mutilating Autistic Boy's Pet Tortoise
Man fined for animal cruelty
Man accused of backing into child, purposely running over dog
Man Accused Of Killing Dog On Purpose Out On Bail
Former police officer confesses to killing dog

The worst part is there are connections between animal abusers and murders. The FBI considers a history of animal abuse to be a significant part of offender profiling; they see a clear relationship between animal abuse by young people and the pathway to more serious crimes, including murder.

Abusing animals often provides an initial kick or practice before the aggressor moves on to a human target. Shooting pigeons, torturing cats or poking out a rabbit's eyes may be a hideous form of rehearsal for the future. The encouraging thing is that this behavior can be altered if it is detected and treated early.

Please, please take the time to report Animal Cruelty - it could save someone's life one day.
