Your new puppy is full of energy and needs an appropriate outlet for releasing that energy. Toys are great for helping to stimulate your puppy’s mental and physical development. It is important to give your puppy toys that are specifically made for puppies because puppy toys have special features that make chewing on them or playing with them safer than adult dog toys.
When selecting toys for your puppy, it is a good idea to choose a variety of toys for your puppy to play with. Choose a couple of chew toys and a couple of soft, plush toys for your puppy. Chew toys for puppies are made to be easier on your puppy’s mouth and teeth because the rubber is softer. Plush toys for puppies don’t have parts, such as eyes or noses that can be removed by chewing. Details are sewn on, so your puppy won’t choke on a small part.
If you are looking for chew toys for your puppy, Kong makes a great line of chew toys for puppies. The Kong Goodie Bone for puppies is perfect for chewing and helps to prevent your puppy from chewing on something he or she is not supposed to. This fun chew toy can hold a puppy treat and helps to keep your puppy entertained by enticing him or her to chew to get the treat. Chewing on a toy like this is great for helping to soothe painful gums from teething.
If you would like to get your puppy a soft, plush toy to cuddle or play with, AKC and JPI have a cute line of soft, soothing toys that are made for play with puppies. Your puppy will love to cuddle with the AKC Puppy Plush Horse that is made of very soft material and double stiched to be very durable. It also has a squeaker inside for extra fun during playtime. Your puppy is sure to enjoy playing with any of the AKC approved toys for puppies.
Whether you are looking for a chew toy or a plush toy for your puppy, make sure that it is made especially for puppies and their special needs. Check out the great selection of puppy toys at GregRobert Pet Supplies.

During the summer, your cat can be affected by the hot summer heat as much as a human. Cats need a cool, shady place to spend their summer days with access to a supply of fresh water. Here are some tips to help keep your cat in good health throughout the summer:
- In order to avoid an over-heating cat, make sure that your cat has plenty of water. A simple dish of water is all you need to help keep your cat hydrated. If your cat enjoys spending time outdoors, it is a good idea to set up a little oasis for your cat with a fresh supply of water. Try to keep your cat’s time spent outdoors to a minimum.
- Make sure your cat is properly groomed during the summer. Keep your cat’s fur clean and neat. If your cat has long hair, it is important to brush the fur on a regular basis to help reduce the amount of shedding and the build-up of hairballs.
- Hairballs tend to be worse in the summer, so make sure that you give your cat some hairball relief. A great hairball treatment for cats is the Miracle Malt Hairball Remedy by Four Paws. This gentle treatment helps to prevent and treat hairballs.
- Fleas are also worse in the summer for your cat. To help prevent fleas from bothering your cat, use a flea treatment such as Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Repellent for Cats. This treatment will help keep fleas off of your cat and out of your home.

Shedding can be a problem any time of the year, but gets significantly worse during the warmer months. As the temperatures rise, so does the fur flying and reducing the amount of fur that your dog sheds can be a difficult task. Some dogs shed continuously throughout the warmer months. Here are some quick tips for helping to reduce the amount of flying fur:
1. Daily brushing can greatly reduce of loose fur around your house. There are several styles of brushes to choose from that are ideal for removing loose hair. A shedding blade, such as the Dog Adjustable Size Shedding Blade, is ideal for removing loose fur from the surface of your dog’s coat. Another great brush for removing loose fur from your dog’s undercoat is the Ultimate Slicker Wire Pet Brush.
2. After brushing your dog’s coat, give your dog a bath with a shampoo formulated for shed control. The Morning DEW Pet Shed & Dander Shampoo works great for reducing the amount of fur your dog sheds. This shampoo may be used on either puppies or dogs.
3. Once you are finished bathing your dog, use a blow dryer and brush your dog’s coat dry. This finishing step also helps to remove additional loose fur from your dog’s coat.
4. Another tip for reducing the amount of shedding is to keep your dog in an air-conditioned home in the summer and indoors during the winter. For some dogs and owners with AC, this can be very helpful, but for some dogs, it may not help at all. It depends on how much your dog is exposed to the climate change. Typically, dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors are more prone to shed their fur.
5. Lastly, if all else fails, a lint roller is ideal for removing dog hair from any surface, including you!

Your Style: Your Aquarium
With all the work that needs to be done to maintain an aquarium, you deserve to dress it up; express your personal style. Three main elements of decoration include: the substrate, the backdrop, and the materials.
The substrate can either be sand or gravel. Sand typically is easier to maintain (dirt can collect between rocks) and is better for fish that like to dig. But the choice is ultimately determined by your preference and the type of fish in your aquarium: some fish need certain minerals. Two suggestions are African Cichlid Gravel, which provides essential minerals for most common types of fish, and the more specified First Layer Pure Laterite , which provides the natural conditions of a tropical stream bed. Remember, if you plan to grow plants in gravel, you should add a one-inch layer of fertilizer underneath and continually care for the plants.
The background of your aquarium is the key to creating an unique under-water world. The backdrop is insignificant to the condition of the tank, so pick whatever background catches your eye. Backdrops can even be hand-made. The only rule: a background should be glued to the back of a dry tank using aquarium silicone so that it stays in place. Try a sunken ship background or a coral reef background.
Adding wood, stones, leaves, and ornaments to the aquarium create either a surreal animated vibe, or a natural straight-from-the-sea impression. Some popular ornaments for the later include skeletons, castles, treasure chests. If you are creating an animated tank note that children are ecstatic with the new animated Finding Nemo decorations.
The efficiency of your aquarium's filter has an enormous impact on the life quality of your fish. Considering the many functions the filter performs, choosing the right one for your aquarium is not always a clear decision.
The type and size of the aquarium is the main determinant for your filter type. If you own a round bowl aquarium or other small aquarium, a mechanical filter will usually work best, preferably an air-driven internal filter. These filters are gentle enough to keep small fishes safe, yet powerful enough to maintain healthy conditions. Lee's Economy Corner Aquarium Filter performs well in small aquariums of all shapes and sizes. The low price and easy instillation make this filter unbeatable.
For slightly larger aquariums (up to 32 inches) internal power filters and under gravel filters become more effective; both provide adequate mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration. Whisper In-Tank Filters are practical for all three types of filtration. The wastes are collected before they settle, and, as the name suggests, these filters are virtually inaudible.
Without a doubt, canister filters are the only option for large aquariums for many reasons. They can hold a variety of different filter materials, and the filtering power is unmatched by any other filter type. The Marineland C-530 Canister Filter (featured to the right) can be used for salt or freshwater tanks and have unsurpassed quality and efficiency you and your fish can rely on.

If your dog has ever run away, you understand the fear and worry that it can create during this stressful time. Many dogs are never located by their owners after becoming lost. Thankfully with the help of modern technology, many new products have been developed for helping to keep your pet safe and preventing him or her from becoming lost to you forever.
One of my favorite products is the GPS Dog Locator by PetSafe that provides you with 24 hour protection without implanting a chip. This clever device comes attached to a dog collar and works great for a variety of dog breeds. The collar is designed to fit dogs with necks that are 10 inches in diameter and made to fit dogs that are greater than 30 pounds. In addition, a service plan may be purchased to fit your specific billing needs.
The set-up instructions for the collar are easy to follow and the collar is easy to use. The collar is programmable and allows you to program the specific boundaries in your yard for your dog. Once the boundaries have been programmed and your dog escapes, you will be notified by email, phone call, or text message that your dog has left the yard and the collar’s locate mode is activated. The collar’s GPS will track your dog until he or she has been located. You can track your dog on the company’s website or through a Customer Care Specialist 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year. You will receive continuous support until your dog is located and you are reunited.
The collar doesn’t have to be removed for walks or battery recharging. For walking your dog, the collar has a mode for walking your dog and leaving the boundary area. In addition, the collar can be recharged while it is on your dog because the batteries may be removed and replaced with recharged ones while the collar stays on your dog.
This simple solution is perfect for any dog owner and works great on dogs who like to stray from their yards. With the use of this collar, your days of worrying about losing your dog are over! Check out this great item and more products to keep your dog safe from GregRobert Pet Supplies.
